bmibaby launch second German route from East Midlands Airport

Flights to Cologne start on 31 October 2010

Low cost airline bmibaby is celebrating the start of its second route from East Midlands Airport to Germany.  bmibaby will commence flying to Cologne on Sunday 31 October 2010, following the successful launch of flights to Munich in September.

bmibaby will operate flights up to five times a week on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday and flights start from just £24.99 one way including taxes.

With frequent flights and low fares, the new route will be popular with both business and leisure travellers.  bmibaby will be the only low cost airline to operate flights from East Midlands Airport to Cologne.  The airline expects to carry over 30,000 passengers on the new service over the winter period.

Julian Carr, managing director, bmibaby, said:

“We are pleased to commence our second route from East Midlands Airport to Germany.  We launched flights to Munich in September and the route is already proving popular, with Cologne looking to follow suit.

“Cologne is not only a business hub, but also a great leisure destination, perfect for a weekend break.  With one of the world’s most famous cathedrals, an array of bars and restaurant and festive Christmas markets, it is the perfect destination for a city break.
