A third generation pâtissier, Christophe Canet’s family has been creating traditional French pastries since 1927. Pop into Canet’s tiny boutique on the edge of Nice’s Old Town, and pick up a box of his sweet rainbow-hued macaroons: melt-in-your-mouth heaven. The Pingala Bar
With six kilometres of sweeping promenade, Nice has more than its fair share of spectacular spots to enjoy a sunset. Parc du Mont-Boron
A cool hilltop parkland, Mont-Boron sits silent and pretty almost 200m above downtown Nice. Hop on bus no. 14 from Nice’s Gare Routière (central bus station) to explore the park’s leafy trails and 16th century fort. On a clear day, stunning panoramic vistas can stretch from Cap d’Antibes in the west to the eastern skyline of Beaulieu-sur-mer.

Musée Masséna
After a whopping seven years of renovations, the Musée Masséna reopened to the public in 2008. Well worth the wait, the Italianate villa beautifully displays a collection of 15,000 objects that span the Côte d’Azur’s history, including late 18th century paintings, swanky Belle Époque dinner menus and 1930s travel posters. Entrance to the museum is enticingly free.
